Mnemba Island

Mnemba Island is one of  best Zanzibar dive sites, It is located in the northeast of Zanzibar, very close to the main island. Mnemba is the best place for Diving and Snorkeling activities. We do two dives, usually in Wattabomi, Big wall, and Kichwani. The trip departs at 08:30, from your Locations in Zanzibar Island, and returning around 15:00 every day.

There are several dive sites dotted around Mnemba Island, but these 3 were highlighted as favorites by several divers because is one of best Zanzibar dive sites

These dive sites located closer Nungwi area, these dive spots and times are decided 1-2 days earlier depending on conditions, tides or customer preferences. Our most visited sites on this on this area such as Nankiville, Hunga, Magic Reef, Tumbatu Island, Leven Bank, and Mbwangawa.

The good news is, you can do night dives off the beach on our home reef on most nights.

Tumbatu Island

Tumbatu Island is dive sites Zanzibar with the nicest coral gardens in North Zanzibar island. There are three dive sites such as Shetani, Popobawa & Mwana have beautiful in dramatic and eye-catching, developing rapidly and successfully corals reefs, with a large variety of soft and hard corals, The reef starts at 3 meters and drops down to 12 meters deep. This makes Tumbatu island a beautiful place for snorkeling as well as beginner divers.

What you will expect to see in Tumbatu island are Turtles, Leaf fish, Octopuses, Scorpionfish,Moray Eels, and Nudibranchs.

Magic Reef

This reef located at north Zanzibar dive sites, it lays between 12 to 20 meters, and its a magical and unique place for every diver. Magic Reef is a nice place for all photographer divers, due to their unique you cant swim for more than a few meters without stopping to look at something nice and unique.

For those who need to see marine life in Zanzibar this place is a nice place for your need, keep your eyes open and you will see such following fish:

Frog Fish, colorful Leaf Fish, Seahorses, Mantis Shrimp, Scorpion Fish, Octopuses, Nudibranchs, Moray Eels, Cleaner Shrimp Mauritius Scorpion, Crocodile Fish, Turtle.

Nankiville And Hunga

These are two best dive sites in Nungwi which has beautiful visibility with lots of large bommies with mainly hard corals. Nankiville is about 12 meters deep while Hunga ref is 16 meters. Both dive sites Nankiville and Hunga lay next to each other and on a flat bottom well covered with corals.

It’s an excellent site for beginners and intermediate divers.Nice place to find shoals of Barracuda, Snappers, Sweetlips, as well as individual Napoleons, Groupers. If you look at the sand in between the rocks you will find Crocodile Fish and Scorpion Fish.

Leven bank

Leven Bank

It’s located far north of Zanzibar in the middle of the open ocean which is slope about 12 to 55 meters and is for advanced divers only.
This is a site with big game fish and potentially strong currents. Leven Bank is home to schools of barracuda, kingfish, tuna, and trevally. You can find huge moray eels here and large schools of reef fish, but also tiny creatures like nudibranchs.
In August to September, Humpback Whales can be spotted off the boat quite often.

Mbwangawa

As part of the Zanzibar barrier reef, Mbwangawa slopes down from 8 to 18 meters.

Drifting along with it, you will find great brain corals, big variety of soft corals, spectacular areas of Plate Corals and lots of tropical fish. At the bottom of the slope, the reef end on a flat sandy area where it is very common to see Stingrays , Guitar Fish ,Blue Spotted Rays.

Nearly at the end of the reef lays a site, unique to Spanish Dancer Divers, which is called Turtle house. Located over a sandy area with small rocks, where we once counted up to 12 turtles in one dive.

Tumbatu Island

Kungui Dive Site

This dive site is located south of Zanzibar in the Kizimkazi area, known for the trips offered to swim with dolphins. It is still more than half an hour by boat from Zanzibar, but this is an excellent site for both beginners, intermediate and advanced divers. It has a coral garden in the shallower area, going down to about 20m. Then it drops off sharply and this wall becomes the domain of the experienced divers. There is a lot of underwater creatures and fish to be found here, including stingrays, scorpionfish, octopus, and turtles.

Boribu Dive Sites Zanzibar

The Boribu dive site can be reached from Stone Town. It’s a long boat ride, but well worth it. It is a colorful underwater world with huge barrel sponges, columnar corals, and gorgonian sea fans. You can find large lobsters, moray eels and schools of pelagic fish on Boribu. If you are really lucky you might even see a whale shark swim by in season.
